The disruption lasted for approximately 35 minutes following scheduled maintenance

This afternoon, students and staff experienced Blackboard login issues due to an “unexpected disruption” of the system.

The disruption lasted for approximately 35 minutes following scheduled maintenance.

According to the IT Services website at 3.45pm, Blackboard’s status said an “unresolved incident” had occurred.

Students and staff using Blackboard’s integrated services such as Collaborate, Panopto, Turnitin, as well as Edugate Federated Access services also experienced issues.

At 3.55pm, an alert was posted onto the Blackboard login page. It read: “IT Services are currently investigating login issues with Blackboard and other services.”

“Alerts will be added to the IT Services website with latest information,” it continued.

Speaking to Trinity News, a College spokesperson said: “The service that permits Trinity students and staff access to the teaching and learning systems suffered an unexpected disruption on Tuesday afternoon at approximately 3:45pm and posted an alert on Blackboard.”

The spokesperson added: “The issue affected students logging into but did not affect those already using the systems.”

“Emergency remedial actions was taken by the IT Services team to make systems available again while continuing the investigation of the issue,” they continued.

The issue has been resolved, and students and staff are now able to login to Blackboard.
