Trinity News is Ireland’s oldest and most successful student newspaper. Since 1953, we have brought student-led independent news and analysis from Trinity College Dublin to campus corridors and student residences. We now reach online readers from across the world as a digital-first student newsroom. We have won over 50 awards in the last eighteen years.
Trinity News covers issues that matter to young people, and sets out to hold power to account. We train aspiring student journalists through our School of Journalism events, and encourage a culture of continuous development among our writers, editors, photographers, and illustrators.
Diversity
A common misconception is that all we do is write. While writing is still at the heart of what we do, maintaining regular online coverage and producing a 40-page newspaper with a 28-page supplement requires the help of a diverse group of collaborators. Whether it’s podcast, video, photography, art, or writing, there’s something for everybody to get involved with.
Independence
Trinity News operates independently of the Central Societies Committee (CSC), as well as of the Students’ Union (SU), the Graduate Students’ Union (GSU), and the Central Athletic Committee (DUCAC). This means that we are free to report truthfully and without bias on these organisations, each of which play an important role in your life as a student.
Amenities
Trinity News is produced using up-to-date, industry-standard hardware and software. Our office is equipped with Macs running the latest versions of Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Staff writers, editors, illustrators, and photographers are all free to use our computers, phones, and cameras for Trinity News business.
Get involved!
Our senior editorial staff has already been appointed, but there are still positions available on staff; we are always looking out for more writers, designers, photographers, and contributors. Get in touch with Editor Jack Kennedy ([email protected]) if you’re interested or pop into our office on the second floor of House 6 during the year.
