Residents of Trinity Hall (Halls) have been asked not to use showers and to only flush toilets “when you really have to” in order to conserve water.
Residents were informed this morning of a supply disruption affecting areas of south Dublin, including Milltown, Rathgar and Rathmines.
Residents were also informed that the laundrette would be closed until at least tomorrow morning.
An email from the Accommodation Office told residents that water tanks in halls were “down to half full” as of 14.39pm.
Repairs to a burst water main are scheduled to take place until 8pm today, “but it may take some time after this for the tanks to refill” according to the email, due to large demand across the affected area.
“Please [conserve] the water we have left for use to supply water for cooking and drinking water,” the email added.
Halls currently accommodates 995 Trinity students, primarily first years, as well as a number of beds reserved for third-year scholars and members of the Irish Language Residency Scheme (An Scéim Cónaithe).
It is also home to the Trinity Hall Junior Common Room (JCR), a representative body for Halls residents, and the JCR Welfare Team.
